Hi! Tabitha here with thefemininereview.com.

Today, I’m going to talk to you about how and why to exfoliate your skin.

First of all, exfoliation is important for you because It helps you to get all the dead skin cells, scabs and dirt that might be lingering on your skin and hiding the shiny, healthy, beautiful, new skin under the kind of old and dull skin.

Usually I exfoliate every two weeks or so. It helps to make my skin shinier and more… glowy… I guess I would say. If I notice that my skin is starting to look a little bit dull, then I generally exfoliate.

Exfoliation is really easy to do with just a few simple ingredients that you probably have at home. A lot of exfoliation products can run anywhere from $5.00 to way more expensive than people have money to actually pay for. I’m going to show you how!

First of all, what you are going to need is some sugar, and some oil. I’m using the oil that I use to cleanse my face daily. I’m not sure what all is in it because it’s a mixture that my mother makes.* Use an equal amount of oil and some sugar. I’m using a teaspoon of oil and a teaspoon of sugar. Pour the one teaspoon of sugar into one teaspoon of oil. I use my fingers to mix it since you are going to get it all over your skin anyway.

You want the sugar or whatever else you are using to be relatively fine grained because the bigger the grains are, the more it would hurt your skin.

So you take a little bit of the mixture in your fingers, and you massage it gently. Don’t push too hard because your skin is sensitive especially when you are rubbing coarse things against it. Just rub it in circles for a while, for however long.

It feels really good; rub it all over the area that you want exfoliated. You can do this on any part of your body; I usually do it on my legs, my hands, and my face because those are the places that I find need exfoliation the most. So just rub it in and especially if you use oil, it’s going to moisturize your skin while it’s exfoliating.

After you’re done rubbing it in, you can rinse it off. I’m going to use a wet washcloth, but I usually use running water and just rinse it off with soap and water. It’s super easy to rinse it off even though it kind of takes a little bit to get all the sugar off. Don’t forget to moisturize after you are finished! You will have beautiful, soft skin after you are done.

As you can see now, exfoliating at home can be really, really easy and very inexpensive. It’s a great thing to do every one to two weeks, to let everybody see your beautiful soft and glowing skin.

* Below is the recipe for the cleanser my mother makes.  If you don’t want to make the oil cleanser, then simply pick one of the oils listed to make a terrific exfoliation blend with sugar.
