Thrifty Thursday: Rockabilly Red – Wearing Your Maxi Skirt in the Fall

Maxi skirts are super popular right now. And why shouldn’t they be? They are feminine and easy to add an edgy flare to. Maxi skirts are easy to pair with a t-shirt for a chic, but oh, so-comfy outfit. Because these skirts are so popular, it follows that they can be pretty spendy! Which is why I made my own. Bella Sorella Photography I simply took a long piece of jersey knit fabric, measured around the widest part of my hips divided that measurement in half. Then, I cut the fabric and sewed it on both sides all the way up tapering my stitching to where my waist was. It was super easy and you can definitely do one yourself. (Maybe I’ll do a tutorial later. What do you think?) Make your opinion known by clicking here and posting a comment.   Maxi skirts are usually a summer skirt-as are most skirts. But they are a great thing to keep in your closet for fall too! Bella Sorella Photography I wore my skirt with a pair of cozy leggings in order to keep me a little warmer in the cooler air. Paired with a simple black tee and some fun accessories, this outfit totally rocks! Bella Sorella Photography Here’s a run-down of the outfit:

  • Skirt: Free! (I was given the fabric and I made the skirt myself)
  • Top: $4.00 from my local Goodwill
  • Shoes: $7.00 from Plato’s Closet
  • Copper-dipped maple necklace: $18.00 from a gift shop in South Dakota
  • Batman Watch: $12.00 from the grocery store
  • Head wrap: Free gift from modcloth.com
  • Total cost:  $41.00

$41.00 is a great price seeing as many outfits like this will cost you upwards of $100!
